A single sample establishes a concentration at one point. It does not establish where along the supply path the lead entered, and that distinction determines what any remedy would concern.
Olympian Water Testing carries out professional lead in water testing for families, expectant parents, homeowners and property buyers across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The first draw reflects water standing in the fixture and the branch line immediately behind it. Each successive draw reaches further upstream, through the branch line, the riser and toward the water service line.
The pattern across the series identifies the contributing segment, which separates a fixture matter from one concerning the piping behind it.
Water acquires lead from the materials it touches, principally the water service line, lead tin solder at joints and brass throughout the supply path for the property concerned.
The lead bearing components of a current system include backflow preventers and pressure reducing valves, angle stops and shutoff valves beneath sinks and behind appliances, well pump and booster pump wetted components, water heater nipples and relief valves, tub and shower mixing valves, hose bibbs and exterior spigots, faucet cartridge housings and stems, brass pipe fittings including tees, elbows, couplings, unions and adapters. Analysis of water from lead free fixtures returns measurable lead regularly, so properties of every age are assessed on the same basis.
Our sampling technicians perform the site visit, with the number of draws following the supply path and the question being addressed.
Where the selected lead protocol requires a defined stagnation period, preparation instructions are provided in advance, and outlet screens are left undisturbed during collection.
Our reporting sets out each draw in the sequence, the method applied, the reporting limit and the measured concentration.
Olympian Water Testing has conducted this work since 1991 with NELAP accredited laboratory analysis, and enquiries are received at any hour of any day.
